Landmark’s Submits Two FOIA Requests to DHS!
Landmark has filed two Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Requests with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) seeking records relating to AFT President Randi Weingarten’s role on a federal advisory committee and records relating to a mobile phone application used by migrants.
The first request seeks information on the role AFT President Randi Weingarten plays on DHS’ Homeland Security Academic Partnership Council (HSAPC). DHS Secretary Mayorkas appointed Ms. Weingarten to serve on this advisory committee to provide guidance on matters such as school safety. Landmark seeks information regarding the reasons for this appointment, as well as HSAPC priorities and action items.

The second request seeks information on a Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP) program known as CBP One. This program is a mobile application which CBP directs migrants to use when applying for asylum in the United States. Landmark wants to know about uses of the application, both by legal and illegal immigrants, as well as whether DHS provided phones to migrants to utilize this application.
